We cant even collect garbage efficiently.
We cant maintain the heavy duty equipment used at the mangrove cell and have to resort to renting equipment at exorbitant cost like we have garbage compactors owned by the private sector.
It is so depressing.

The Minister of the Environment who is holding a big position on some world environmental body, should hang his head in shame. So too, many of us Barbadians who sit back and allow this country to deteriorate , without kicking up a fuss and demanding what is rightfully ours,a healthy environment.
But Rihanna is going to sing the national anthem. An oversize Barbados flag is going to fly on the Garrison. The King is coming . We are unveiling a monument.We are spending $7Million plus,plus,plus.plus . What more can we ask for? We are like a pig in mud, pure pleasure.

A comedian once said if you really want a situation where Crime Does Not Pay, let Government go ahead and nationalise Crime. The same could be said about Centralising operations.
When the BWA, and its predecessor Water Works Department were decentralised, the operation appeared much smoother.
When private concessionaires were managing the omnibus system in Barbados, not only were operations much smoother, but the various bus companies were making a profit.
When the SSA ‘s predecessor were decentralised ,and garbage collection was carried out under the aegis of the Northern District Council, The Southern District Council, and the City, operations appeared to be much smoother.
Perhaps we need to spread our eggs in a couple of baskets.

IT IS AMAZING THAT IN THE PAST BARBADOS FUNCTIONED MUCH BETTER IN EVERY WAY THAN NOW 50 YEAR AFTER INDEPENDENCE AND FREE EDUCATION
Denis Lowe needs to know why Barbados does not have an effective waste management programme. He also needs to tell the country why trucks were not bought by the SSA despite just over $4M was given by MOF in2014.
This Waste Management Fiasco is deliberate to give credenece to the Waste To Energy. The norm is that one party signs off and the other political party has to build. SBRC and Ionics were both conceptualized by BLP and implemented by DLP.
Who will share in the finders fees? It’s hoped that we skin out the beneficial owners and their connections. Nothing less than international forensic audits will be accepted.
The Financial Crimes Unit and Financial Intelligence Unit have much work to do.

Having the Education and not the aptitude, and the will to implement things ,and to see them through ,is one of our biggest post-independence failures. We continue to hammer square pegs into triangular holes.
My question is not directed to the Minister of the Environment, but to the Prime Minister and people of Barbados.
Why is Dr Dennis Lowe still a Minister in the Barbados Government?
In any country with a government which truly cares for, and about, its people, this man would have been dumped long ago. Truly a disaster.

There is a simple solution to waste: reduce to near zero the packaging of produce and products; and pass the total cost of recycling onto the retailer.

Colonel, I am too young to know or remember, so in the spirit of Independence and all; why did Government take over the private buses? Were they making bundles of money at the time or were they happy Government was bailing them out?

Dont they know at tge BWA that stagnant water not running through a pipe should be treated for water borne bacteria, the tank should be treared, don’t they treat pipe borne water, dont any of these BWA people care about a water borne epidemic.

Good news for the people of St. Joseph. Water once again is filtering from their pipes Kudos to govt for tackling a long overdue problem which was neglected or disregarded by a previous administration known as the blp who now takes political pleasure in shedding crocodile tears for the people of ST. I have to say that things have much improved over the last 20 years, in that individuals, who once thought nothing of leaving picnic detritus abandoned or chucking Chefette stuff out the car window have become much more aware. You see a lot less personal littering. People are trying hard but struggling in the face of hopeless rubbish collection! It’s a nightmare! What’s the point of educating the public to be more aware when the services they pay for cannot fullfil their role?
Was intrigued to listen to minister Lowe in parliament sounding off about how he had given instructions to see how his ministry can ’employ’ the use of certain energy devices.
So we have 20M and the SSA will buy 17 trucks and build a workshop.
……….whatever became of those 15 trucks that were idenified as sanitation trucks in the port months ago?
………UCAL has a workshop,govt owes it money,govt has no money,so why not put the SSA workshop into UCAL even expand it a bit and let them do the maintenance as both fleets use heavy duty vehicles?
