Continental Foods and Bhana, the Chicken Wings and Expired Labels Affair

Minister of Commerce Donville Inniss

Minister Donville Inniss

Recently a shipment of chicken wings was destroyed by the Ministry of Commerce after it was discovered it landed on the island illegally. What concerns the BU household is the response from several Bajans who were quick to cry fowl to the decision to incinerate the wings. Why? Bajans love their wings, what a waste of good wings they cried!

How was Bhana located at Cave Hill given permission to land the chicken wing shipment in Barbados? How long has Continental Foods been scrubbing labels?

The second image, my sweet piece, is an open market that is permitted to set up on two sides of the street every Thursday from January to December. The closing of the road starts from 4 am in the morning to accommodate vending, which starts at 6 am. The reopening of the road recommences at 5:00 pm, where all vending must end and equipment and covering removed by 4:30 pm lest the authority penalises you with a fine for breach of the permitted times. Please pay attention to the structure. It is all constructed to be collapsible and erected in less than one hour.

Though I cannot stomach your guts and the 99.98 percent nonsense that you tend to write, the SSS agrees with your comment. Please note it is not because you acknowledge mine. It would better for me if you do not agree with or comment on anything that I write on here. The problem with me when it comes to you is that I just do not like what you are and how you represent obviouses. I see you as an old man who is washed in ignorance and clothed in a three-piece suit of cloak and dagger. I hope your eyes are opening to the truth of the mess created by this administration that you defend. I hope you have seen the evidence of DLP skulduggery and sell out. If you see, comment. If you are still ignorant, do not comment.

…. is there not a case for Bizzy and SBRC to sit with government to insert an addendum to the existing agreement?
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Of COURSE there is such a case.
…and it will happen right after the case with the ‘container of drugs is concluded in our courts.. …and when cats and dogs negotiate a mutual food-sharing plan.

    Wake up David.
SBRC is about Bizzy becoming as rich as Simpson and COW combined, ….and Government is comprised of confirmed, certified, and ‘UWI-degreed’ pimps and field-hands, who are currently operating multiple levels above their real class.
What do you think would be the outcome of an ‘addendum’? …probably another shiite tax on Bajans ….while we pay Bizzy …or one of his imported albino friends like Sandals Steward, multiple millions for no clear reason….

Look David, as Bushie was about to tell Donna, you cannot get wisdom from a fool any more that you can get blood from a stone. Also, the only thing worse than having a fool manage your money is asking him to fix the resulting f***-up.

…and to Donna, the only difference between 1000 fools in church and 1001 fools in church, is the additional brass bowl expelling shiite. As AC and Alvin have consistently demonstrated, after you get two fools together, it make no difference how many more are added…. so accept the three nuh…!!

Are we spinning top in mud? I am not holding out much hope that the Bhana and Jumans establishment will be given the same short shrift as those vendors on the Duncan Oneal Bridge. For too long this Two-Barbados’s behaviour by our authorities have been going on, and appears to rock hard cemented into our culture. The big guys, with deep pockets, and imported container of drugs are untouchable. They call the shots. We jump high.
When a certain fast food restaurant on the South Coast was being renovated some years ago, and in order not to loose any revenue , the business continued among the dust and debris. And to make matters worse, the toilet facilities were taken out of service, forcing the staff to seek relief , when needed, at the nearby gas station. The Authorities were called in , and sat down with the manager, who shortly afterwards ,stuck his head around the corner ,and shouted ” Six dinners to go!”………. End of negotiation .Start of a free lunch ,and it was business as usual for the restaurant staff traipsing across the road to the gas station wash rooms.
    We haven’t moved anywhere.

It is incorrect to say that Sandals was given multiple millions for no clear reason. The reason is as clear as the nose on my face. News broke that Sandals paid a settlement of US $12 million to avoid criminal prosecution in Turks and Caicos for bribing public officials. When our Government found out that Sandals was corrupt and would pay bribes, negotiations with local businessmen to acquire the Almond properties were broken off and Stewart was approached to come to Barbados. Thereafter Sandals was given unprecedented concessions.

Now Bushie, tell me what is unclear about that?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Every shiite about that is unclear.

It is unclear how educated black coherent Bajans, (who MUST have known grand-parents who could barely survive based on the lives they were forced to endure under people looking a lot like Steward) could turn around and BETRAY their fellow Bajans with that shiite.

It is unclear how ANYONE could, with a straight face, talk to Bajans about a plan to:
..buy an old abandoned hotel for $1200M
..pay millions to knock it down
…BORROW money to build the property back
…then to GIVE it to a foreigner, who was best known to Bajans for pissing all over Paradise beach …leaving it contaminated for Four whole Seasons.

It is unclear how 275,000 Bajans could have sat down and allowed a few obviously stupid, pissing drunk, or simply mentally retarded politicians to give away all of the hard-earned national assets accumulated by those same poor grand-parents… to the descendants of the SAME bastards who terrorised generations of our ancestors….

His INDIVIDUAL cost for that service is not adequate for what HE gets, so don’t come to me with NO foolishness. If each INDIVIDUAL had to pay for HIS garbage pickup by a PRIVATE entity he would be paying a hell of a lot more. And Gabriel (you nuisance) what is the budget for the SSA? How does it cost for wages maintenance of trucks, Diesel, maintenance of Depots etc. You ass!!!) Even if they continue to pay exorbitant rates to hire a tractor.

Jackass Alvin the $700.00 in property or land tax is just a slice of the many that make up the total tax cake or pie forcibly taken by the State.
What about taxes on personal income, VAT, import duties, excise taxes on alcohol and tobacco and finished petroleum products and the myriad of other charges imposed on transactions undertaken by private citizens?

Why do Bajans have to pay so much taxes if only for politicians and public sector workers to sit on their lazy asses all day? Just look at the state of the roads and streets people live on and Government-owned properties and see where the money is going.

We notice a distinct refusal on your part to comment on the flagrant disrespect for and blatant breaking of the laws by your buddy Maloney. But then, if you can be in ardent support of similar behaviour by your boyfriend Greenverbs why not extend the friendship to Maloney another bankroller of the corrupt destructive lying party, your dear loving party?

    Miller’
You and Gabriel could fit into the same hole, as big as a rat’s ass. Barbados, is a country with myriad social services. The taxes that you refer to, are what are used to pay for these services. If you totalled what each individual pays, and put it next to what he enjoys in services that are “free”, they enjoy a lot of benefits they do not pay for. How dare you talk about “public sector workers “to sit on their lazy asses all day”. You ever work in the Public Service? You may have been part of a previous administration: new public sector workers were not hired wholesale by this present administration, so you must have worked with the same public sector workers, and if the government is thrown out, you will have to work with them again. How dare you!!. I have commented on the Maloney controversy, but he is a closer friend of yours than mine, never mind you want to work a Judas kiss on him.Wasn’t your party that got the whole thing working with the designation of “Special Development Areas, with millions of dollars in duty free concessions, to “developers” and Investors, which the same people you mentioned could qualify for? And didn’t you carry it even further with the concessions granted for the development of Port Ferdinand, to the detriment of the people at Six Mens? Look don’t get me started. Remember the year 2007, (WC) and that does not refer to a water closet. “Government-owned properties and see where the money is going.” Debt repayment (KO? Circa 2007)
ALL governments “forcibly” take their taxes. If you were working for minimum wages; like at a gas station or fast food outlet, you would not have to pay ANY taxes other than Vat, maybe. You however have accumulated so much wealth that fairness demands that you pay your fair share.

Now having said the above placing the Private sector under the microscope in barbados is warranted . Yes they provided jobs but at what cost and how can it be justified when the wages provided for employees at times are inadequate
There is a revolving door of ineptness that should also be placed at the PR sector feet which in part affects the revenue of govt and causing to place a harder burden on those who can least afford it
Lets not fool ourselves that a society should only look to govt for all that necessitate a functional, society while PR sector flies above radar as contributors in playing its part towards building a better society

The nationnews provided concrete information that they have in their possession information (and hopefully photos) showing label manipulation. We also have information that speaks to the illegal importation of chicken wings destine for a certain business, whom, I am assuming, is the company that sought to bribe Roy Morris from publishing the story. Please note I said assuming because I do not know who it was that was trying bribe Roy Morris. Therefore, I would hope that the investigation would seek to get what information the nationsnews paper reporter have in his possession that would be beneficial in the Donville Inniss investigation. We need this evidence because this is Barbados, and investigations like these often turn up with nothing, with the Minister telling you that there was no problem or fault found in the operations of certain establishments. We know this to be the typical modus operandi of business practice in Barbados when people get payout to fabricate falsities and manipulate truths.

You mekking sport right? but if Barbados got a site like that

Let me see if i can simplify this for you Brother Hants

You are an international man who has travelled widely.

If you go to Kentucky Fried Chicken in TO or to one in Montreal you dun know that the KFC has the same taste with its brand of poison.

The recipe is the same for all of their food in every one of their franchises AND, in the unlikely situation where I the franchisee “water” down my recipe, my franchise is lik up, gone through the edoes.

We have a so called barbados National Standards Institute which, in the absence of any other agency, one would believe should be the agency which would be tasked with ascertaining the cuntstituency of said KFC.

I will bet any BU-ian who is willing to risk the obesity and health risk that even in the artery hardening exercises that is local KFC that right now, at 5.34 if you go to KFC Oistins and sampled their food, and went to KFC Pine or Speightstown that the respective franchisees have been watering down their secret recipe so that it will stretch across more chicken and they pay less charges for the secret recipe.

Now please do not tell me about the waste foops called the Fear Trading Commission and Jeff Cumberbatch please forgive me this derogatory term against that entity which you chair, they do not have a clue in France about how to determine if what i am saying is correct or incorrect.

It would be a waste of time to engage their services in such a campaign per diluted ingredients.

    In a word Hants no.

When a 2015 car gets recalled in the United States at Toyota, incredibly, not a man jack in Bulbados does have models from that year EVEN THOUGH YOUR VIN NUMBER pun de recall list!!

You can extend the code and platform to any industry where such a problem potentially exists.
The same useless Fear Trading and other agencies above can be the beneficiary agencies which go to the IDB Compete Caribbean or other agency and seek funding for the concept.

Donna, look as per ideas and solutions this is not rocket science but the people in positions, NOT ONE OF THEM ACROSS THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM OF ENDEAVOUR I JUST OUTLINED, can even think of that challenge as being an opportunity for exploitation.

If you have a problem like vehicles it would be incumbent on the authorities to monitor the sector and enforce compliance.

Unfortunately, like Bush Tea always points out we are besieged by BADWORDS who are only capable of thinking of how to run down PSV drivers and prosecute them for $500 so that the Treasury can get some money.

This is why I believe that our Education system has failed us for we CANNNOT CONNECT THE DOTS unless some white man comes and shows us the links

WE ARE NOT READY DONNA and are condemned to be hewers of wood and drawers of water and it is for this reason that fellows like John who advocate that slavery was good for us niggers are so regrettably correct for we are niggers of a particular mental hue of ingrained indolence and perpetuity

Piece…not to mention that if some brilliant young mind like David Weekes invented such world changing apps….the politicians and others would tief it from him or her and give it away or sell it to some white dude or dudette whose only urge is to kick them in their black asses….as they deserve, just more of the same.

    @ The Blogmaster

    Very nice.

That survey widget is compact and efficient.

I was looking for the Article to see where Andrew Hutchinson? responded but i cant remember where it was. Ole man problems (lol)

    Two things.

The survey question says “Do you with the acton to destroy the illegal shipment of chicken wings?” and I am sure that you meant “Do you agree with the action to destroy the illegal shipment of chicken wings?

Dr. Tennyson Joseph or Peter Wickham would tell you that this is a leading statement.

    A poll should be unbiased.

You have asked if a respondent agrees with the destruction of an “illegal” item.

You are in a way backing the respondent into a corner.

Unless the respondent wants to be accorded the status of anarchist or seditionist (depending on if Verla Depeiza or Mia Mottley is the pollster evaluating the answers) they may not answer because the question is doubly loaded.

As an illegal item i may agree with its destruction because it is illegal while though illegal, if other things obtain, e.g. that the meat is not unhealthy, while it might contravene the correct importation rules, I might be against its destruction.

That is therefore a poll that is decidedly biased.

The second thing is a partial repetition of my questions to him

(a)what is the utility of the survey in and among BU-ians?
(b)Don’t many “like” or “thumbs down” a topic while in the said blog? Such would suggest that there are many who read but they don’t comment
(c)*****. I reserve the third part because…I too simple minded and foolish hahahaha

    @ Well Well.

I am not too sure about whom you speak but, as far as I know, that chap is a troublemaker, a seditionist, and probably involved in treasonous activities.

I say so because he “seeks to speak out about institutions that are the bastions of law in the country” and according to Mia Mottley that is a practice that must be stopped.

I should add that I do believe that, in the coming of the Troika, BU is going to experience a period akin to the Spanish Inquisition as the Gestapo is unleashed on commenters like us, in Nicolae Ceausescu styling a la Barbade.

The laws have already been drafted to deal with such dissent and the international community is already being “courted” and oriented to the coming regime.

Wunna see which of the Excellencies and other dignitaries were in the front row at the launching of the “covenant of Hope”?

Might i advise you gently not to mention such seditionist and treason mongers since it will not bode well for you, or him, to tout for, or be touted as one who might, promote viable sustainable alternatives of national economic enfranchisement.

By the way, do you know if the LGBT Rainbow flag was raised half mast here at the American Embassy as it was raised in Jamaica?

I guess I would ask GP but I fear his answer will attract the ire of a few here

FRIENDS IN THE CHICKEN WING SAGA

David Ellis is asking a caller ‘what friends ‘ related to the chicken wing saga. These are the connections of the chicken wing saga. The man identified in the article or accused of bringing in the 40ft containers and distributing the wings was Mr. Bhana. Mr. Bhana is a constituent of St. James South, which is represented in Parliament by the Minister of Commerce. Mr. Bhana has built a large commercial operation in the Wanstead residential area in St. James South which violates Town Planning guidelines. The representative has done nothing about the complaints of residents about the noise, and devaluing of their property or the violation of gov’t regulations or his efforts have brought no success. Persons have alleged that the chicken wings are tainted, and believe that the Ministry should have confiscated not only the few remaining pounds still in storage, but recalled from every supermarket, vendor, hotel and restaurant. The importer whoever it is should be made to identify the buyers. These products should be pulled and the public formally warned by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Health about these unhealthy chicken wings. This has not been done, so David, the caller is asking for an explanation.. If the Ministry of Commerce confiscated the chicken wings then the Minister must know who brought them in. If they had a license for the wings then the Ministry of Commerce must have issued the license. On what basis was it issued and why issued to one person or that person? Are there not others who want to import chicken wings? Is BADMC not the only entity issued a permanent license by gov’t to import chicken wings? If he had no license, then is the Ministry going to pursue prosecution? If so, the Minister should indicate if this is what he plans to do for the good order and safety of the country. The Minister would also have to indicate which customs officials are being investigated for the release of chicken wings without documentation. The Minister needs to do a full investigation into what other products are coming into Barbados without licenses, not meeting health standards, and what goods are being sold past their due date. A statement claiming that food in Barbados is acceptable without an investigation would suggest the Minister knew beforehand about the extent of these type of violations but the Minister believes it is insufficient to cause worry. This would occasion worry, as we have heard of no confiscations or prosecutions since he is Minister. Or the Minister is blowing smoke in the wind if he does not know the extent of the problem, but is telling the public, their food is safe.

“in Nicolae Ceausescu styling a la Barbade.”

Piece …did they not execute or hang Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife…lol

Did not hear about the flag raising at US Embassy, I guess no one was paying attention. Mia cannot stop the internet, don’t care what she does….you may have noticed as things stands, the blogs are doing all the work for her right now, so she is just quietly waiting for her turn to jump out again, she should show appreciation for the blogs and humble herself prior to being elected.

Piece…this is what happens to despots, dictators and repressive regimes, him and his wife were executed.

“Ceaușescu’s regime collapsed after he ordered his security forces to fire on anti-government demonstrators in the city of Timișoara on 17 December 1989. The demonstrations spread to Bucharest and became known as the Romanian Revolution, which was the only violent removal of a Communist government in the course of the revolutions of 1989.[4] Ceaușescu and his wife, Elena, fled the capital in a helicopter but were captured by the armed forces. On 25 December the couple were hastily tried and convicted by a special military tribunal on charges of genocide and sabotage of the Romanian economy in an approximately one-hour long court session.[5] Ceaușescu and his wife were then shot by a firing squad.[6]”

    Seen in today’s Nation
    Review of 1979
In June 1979 Barbados declared war on rats.
The situation was becoming so grave that health authorities had considered bringing in the dreadful St Vincent Owl to wipe out the rat population estimated to run into several millions.
At least two cane cutters had been affected by leptospirosis.

Rats had even moved into Government offices. Some were seen destroying official documents.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………..
In 2016 noting has changed,we still have some big rats occupying government offices ,and may very well be in the process of destroying government documents, to escape the dreaded disease of Maloneyspirosis.

Who cares whether or not the rainbow flag was raised at the U.S. Embassy in Barbados?

Barbadians unlike many Jamaicans and unlike many Americans are not particularly homophobic. We do not walk around shooting or killing homosexuals, and that is the TRUTH.

You will notice that those few homophobic Bajans like Dr. GP, and like the Prime adulterer who talk about other people being “unsuitable for leadership” invariably went to study or work in Jamaica when they were very young and easily influenced by Jamaican homophobia. The rest of us know that the Bajan bullers and wickers (to use the Bajan terminology) or gay people to use the modern terminology are US, are our sons and daughters our uncles and aunts, our teachers and our preachers, and that sometimes they are our very parents and children. So why hate them? THEY ARE US.

The truth is that we Bajans can teach both Jamaicans and Americans more that a thing or two about tolerance, more than a thing or two about living and letting live.
