The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) appears to have become mired in a quagmire of issues. While the NUPW is charged with representing public workers there is a healthy public interest in how the affairs of that union is being managed. Readers will recall BU expressed a similar concern how the former president Walter Maloney is alleged to have accumulated unauthorized cellphone bills as well as issues around the former general secretary’s assigned vehicle.

In every facet of our little society we continue to hear the cries for leadership. Will the real leaders please stand up!

  1. As if we need to be reminded that some folk show their true colours when their corns are stepped on…Sometime ago McDowell was on the airwaves and Pornville found the time to call Brasstacks to engage McDowell…Donville’s contribution was to ask the unionist if he does not have work to do as a public servant instead of being on a call in programme.
So much for having an opinion which hurts the ego of a member of cabinet.

“Will the real leaders please stand up!”

I hope you recall that I have been consistently asking that exact question here for the last nine years. lol.

    We wait with bated breath.

    Just observing

  5. @Observing

Leaders are leaders whether we a[approve of them or not. But they are not perfect. We glorify them with 20/20 hind sight.

I think the NUPW Insurance Inc needs to undergo a forensic audit. Never saw anything of this magnitude of such ignorance in my 30 years as an agent specializing in health insurance. Will do a comprehensive unbiased analysis why the Capita option with ito high rates and proposed plan structure is unsustainable and will suffer high attrition. .

Now we see why the country is in a complete mess thanks to the behavior of the adults.

In all fairness the NUPW Council wishes must be respected in their choice of Capita even if acquisition of plan is questionable and selfish.

  10. Is there a report on what transpired at the meeting yesterday?

  11. looks like the hangman noose is being pulled a little tighter around this little boy neck oh maybe somebody forgot to buy him a tricycle with training wheels

  14. What de hell you mean by Bees vs Dee’s. The little boy became a quasi dictator hoping to do the bidding for mottley and her crew.just wait not one of them who push him under the bus going to lend a saving hand to pull him out. Imagine openly alligining himself with a party in broad daylight which he cannot deny

I read all your comments and always wanted to respond. I now have the courage. Can horatio share some factual events that occured when mcdowell acted silly. All i get from you is a sense of anger.

  16. NUPW treasurer ASSokore Beckles , part of the “apolitical and non political” NUPW executive that tried to shut down Barbados last year has declared that he is officially seeking the BLP nomination to run in St. Michael south.

Fabian Jones, another member of the “non political” NUPW executive is seeking the BLP nomination to run in St. John.

Akani Macdowall, president and member of the “non political ” NUPW executive can find time to participate in a BLP march claiming that he is acting in his “personal capacity”.

Was the current NUPW executive which was financed by Mottley put there to represent workers or to play a political role under the guise of worker representation?
The evidence is clear and overwhelming. These jokers are using the NUPW to push themselves and their political mistress – unlike previous union leaders who spent years in the trenches and then transitioned into politics- these guys are prepared to use the union to facilitate their own personal and political aspirations first.
