Tax DEM!

A Government minister today expressed serious frustration over the length of time it takes to get new schools constructed, while suggesting that some were deliberately seeking to ‘thwart’ the Government’s vision – Barbados Today

[…]

Dear Mr. Jones, you are frustrated after five years, how much frustration do you think that the populace of this country is feeling after seven years of your rule? You came to this country with loads of promises but you have not one of you have fulfilled his promise/promises!

Oops, Mr. Minister of Finance. I almost forgot. You are the only one who kept his promise!

You promised to tax us, and you are doing so to the best of your ability with any and every willy-nilly tax you could dream up – pushing them through within two or three months, whereas the other ministers have to wait years to even get a sniff at getting theirs brought to Cabinet. You taxed sweet drinks and included Sports drinks because, according to you, they have in too much sugar, whereas in the U.K. they are advising that patients be given them before an operation.

You taxed fish – again something other countries see as a health food – thereby putting it out of reach of the poor the needy, the vulnerable, and also many of the elderly. Pray tell me Mr. Minister of Finance, does fish have too much salt in it? It can’t be too much sugar. Why did you tax flying fish, knowing that that is part of our national dish? Yet, we can hear people complaining that too many people are obese.

Do you think that people will go out there to steal to be able to purchase these items? People will go where they can get the most for their money – to the fast food restaurants. At present one of the fast food restaurants have many specials – ranging from $10 to about $11 – and it is being advertised by the monitors which Government put up in the bus terminals, so you are helping with the propagation of fast food delicacies.

There are already many people who are working two or three jobs to keep their heads above water, and you go to sleep at night and have your dreams and soon we have another tax. What peeves me most is that you are not using the tax to help the poor, the needy and the vulnerable – and the so-called middle class – of Barbados, but giving it to entities such as Sandals and Cahill Energy which has been given the mother of sweetheart deals.

Barbados is a water-scarce country and many people are suffering from water outages, but you and the other magnificent four – which includes the Prime Minister – have the audacity to give away 30 years of water to Cahill Energy. You are fleecing the people of this country and giving away their money as if it were yours!

Now the Minister of Education is talking about other people breaking their promises. This sounds very hollow and is nothing but the pot calling the kettle black!

You promised that no one in the public service would be fired – more than 3000 have gone.

You promised not to touch education, and you refuse to pay the UWI fees for the scions of the poor, the needy and the vulnerable.

You have even hiked the fees at the BCC, so the scions of the poor, the needy and the vulnerable now have another avenue for tertiary education blocked.

You and your ilk got your free education, so it is “after me the deluge”!

You promised not to touch Health, but look at the state of the Psychiatric Hospital and we see nothing but somewhere not even fit for keeping cattle, and the QEH is still short of one thing or the other.

You cut the funds to the Welfare Department and now the people working there cannot cope with the number of cases of abuse against the most vulnerable in our society – our children!

So, please Mr. Jones, come back when you have reached seven years of frustration.

You are now  asking people to help their alma mater.

What a load of codswallop!

Have you ever tried to pick the pocket of a naked man?

With what should people who are working two or three jobs to keep their heads above water help their alma mater?

Use the taxes we pay every month to bring the schools and other places up to scratch!

That’s why we pay them!

Not for you to give away to every Tom, Dick and Harry, or every Johnny-come-lately who has a million or two in his/her pocket.

I wonder what sweetheart deal Wyndham is getting for taking over Sam Lord’s castle!

It was mooted that that chain is the one building the hotel on Brown’s beach where again we will be cast out from what is ours.

In this political environment I could believe Jones when he suggested that people are seeking to thwart Government’s vision that is if Government had a vision. If they do have one; I would like to see articulated.

Vision? Are these people just plain doggy ignorant or does these morons believe that they are the gospel of John 3:16 hellarfuhya ahmen? Wuh Gaud Blind ya, none of these kubbas do not bring anything meaningful to the table besides some shite talk like this here or a remark that paints the people of Barbados as plain ignoramus simpletons. The only vision I see so far unveiled is taxes, secret projects, another secret project the opposition leader calling Cahill 2 (solar project), a stinking politician that Caswell said could not pay a certain maintenance but made a call for some money and now he mother bank account fat with millions, and last but certainly not least a PM with nasty STD called Stuart To Deceitful. Wuh that is some vision wanna stinking low life bitches really set indeed.
