Any day now this Government will have another government entity sign yet another power purchase agreement with yet another Canadian outfit, called Deltro Electronic Inc […], to provide power to a new utility company for 20 years in the first instance, and 80 years after that, a maximum of 20mw by way of photovoltaic energy – Mia Mottley, Opposition Leader

BU gives an insight into how Due Diligence (DD) does what he does best . This time around he sniffs out what is the deal with Deltro Electric Inc labelled Cahill#2.

After all the coverage of the MECC/Cahill affairs posted to BU and to some extent traditional media, it is (almost) unfathomable that the government of Barbados  (GOB) would even consider getting into bed with the second coming of Cahill, unless it made secret payments to senior GOB officials that were intended to curry favour and secure lucrative business contracts. Read the BT story for background –  Mottley hints at second waste to energy project.

Naturally I (DD) was curious about “another Canadian outfit”, called Deltro Electronic Inc, to provide power to a new utility company for 20 years in the first instance, and 80 years after that, a maximum of 20mw by way of photovoltaic energy, so I Googled “Deltro Electronic Inc”. I could not find Deltro Electronic Inc; but there is a Deltro Electric Inc. which seems a perfect fit for (in Mia’s words) “Cahill number two that is in the making”

A bit of (recent) Canadian political history. One of several scandals involving MPs/Ministers/Seantors in the former Harper Government was Harper’s former Parliamentary Secretary, Dean Del Mastro.    See links below for some of the media coverage of the Dean Del Mastro scandal:

Dean Del Mastro’s cousin David Del Mastro, the  owner of the “other Canadian outfit”, Deltro Electron Inc. (“Cahill number two) has been charged by Elections Canada, after an investigation by Elections Canada and the RCMP, with violating the Elections Act by funnelling money to Del Mastro’s campaign concealing the identity of the source of a campaign contributions and exceeding the $1,000 individual campaign contribution limit in 2008.

DD thinks this is the good part.

See Wikipedia profile of lawyer Marie Henein, in which The National Post called her the “most high profile criminal defence lawyer in the country. We will have to wait until the February 2016 trial to see if David Del Mastro/Deltro Electric Inc. is found guilty; but, where there is smoke there must be fire.

I repeat – after all the coverage of the MECC/Cahill affairs in BU and to some extent traditional media, it is (almost) unfathomable that GOB would even consider getting into bed with the second coming of Cahill, unless it made secret payments to senior GOB officials that were intended to curry favour and secure lucrative business contracts.

BUT in the words of Well Well & Consequences in the TAX DEM blog on October 26, 2015 at 6:45 AM – “None of them research or analyse the consequences of their actions, they just consider themselves lordgod politicians and do whatever idiocy jumps into their heads.”

  1. I guess when background checks were done on the Del Mastros, they figured these guys will fit right in in Barbados.

  2. Can we bank on these characters to maintain our energy supplies? Our government seems to have faith in them. I wander why?
