As great as the late Michael Jackson was many Blacks questioned his acceptance to being a Black man. His transformation to a lighter skin complexion in his later years was viewed with suspicion. Despite many news reports which have suggested Michael Jackson was afflicted with the disease known as vitiligo, Blacks have remained suspicious. The suspicion was probably heightened because Michael Jackson succumbed to the plastic surgeons knife on many occasions, the result, the alteration of physical characteristics worn proudly by Blacks.

In recent days yet another high profile Black celebrity is being accused of ‘messing’ with his skin colour. Sammy Sosa the poor boy born in the Dominican Republic; who went on to become a famous baseball player in the American Major League Baseball admits to the following:

… in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin. The picture is deceiving. He said, If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture.

There is probably consensus to the point that prominent Black celebrities, especially sportsmen are role models for millions of children including Blacks around the globe. Some may question the effect decisions by high profile Black celebrities is having on the psyche of the Black race. Do we accept that colour is only skin deep? If that is the case what conclusions can be made by the decision of Sosa to undergo skin treatment?

The fact is many Blacks who are not celebrities purchase bleaches to lighten skin complexion, straighten curly hair which is a natural feature of Blacks and the list goes on. What does this say about our Black people? Are we reading too much into these kinds of decisions? Are these decisions indicative of a Black race continuing to struggle with poor esteem?

The big question: does the Black race suffer from an inferiority complex?

  2. Tiger is Thai since his mer is 100% Thai and his father light brown, statistically he has only one significant racial tie, Thai

  3. Dennis Jones makes valid points regarding whites making changes to their appearance. Indeed Asian women have eye lid surgery to have European looking rounder eyes.
The reality is that anyone undertaking major changes is doing so because they feel inferior due to race, age et al. This tends to indicate that humans are actually somewhat alike regardless of race because their brains are the same.
Those that believe in themselves tend to be happier and more successful.

  4. You could say the white race is insecure about their recessive gene, (… To be exact, there are two genes that control the production of melanin, each of which has a dominant and recessive expression. …).

  6. My skin is brown but I’m considered black. I have an african background but no one that I know of in my family can tell me which part of africa we came from. No one can tell me what the spiritual beliefs my blood ancestors had because my family doesn’t know, we been brought up to believe in christainity. More than not I find myself having the same inferoirty complex.

You see it in the media beautiful caucasian women, supermodels, playboy bunniess, actresses every where you look. Its hard not to equate the idea of beauty with fair skin because every time you look on the web or turn on the tv there she is a the a fair skinned goddess with glamour and fame and riches while you look in the mirror. Yes I find myself jealous, even chirst is depicted as being fair skinned when in reality he’d probably look more like an arab or iranian man.

Its hard not wonder whether you’ve been past up for an opportunity in life be it a job promotion, a business loan, or anything simply because your skin is not the same as the current majority of the population.

Its social conditioning, we might say liberty and justice for all but sometimes its more liberty and justice for all who look lighter.

But I have african american girls bully me when I went elementry school for speaking proper english. So I can’t believe that alone is responsible for racial inferiort complexes

You know they say the only color that matters is the color of your money if I look at life from that perspective then maybe id feel better. It would be the lesser of two evils.

On another note I think the best movie I ever saw was the fifth element. The world in that movie was very racially diverse and but universally were pretty much the same.

  7. fantastic issues altogether, you simply won a new reader. What would you recommend in regards
to your puut up that you made a few days in the past? Any positive?

  8. And here is what a group of cult people from over and away, who have come into this country and have established churches, which are heavily patronised by many blacks ,think of us.
    2 Nephi 5 :21-24
And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint, wherefore,as they were WHITE ,and exceedingly FAIR and DELIGHTSOME,that they might not be enticing unto MY people, the Lord God did cause a skin of BLACKNESS to come upon them.

And thus saith the Lord God; I will cause that they shall be LOATHSOME,unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.

And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spske it,and it was done.

  9. Extraordinary story from Guadeloupe. A building dedicated to the history and memory of slavery has just opened. The funding of this “masterful” building was provided by our dear old european colonial masters and the EU.

One would of thought that such a facility would already be in place throughout the Caribbean region.

According to Guadeloupe’s region president Victorin Lurel, the facility “reflects Guadeloupe’s determination to play a key role in constructing a universal, shared memory of slavery”.

For the record Guadeloupe is still a French “colony”.

  10. “White” people like to make themselves darker, its why tanning salons exist, white women folks also like to make their hair curlier with processing, none of this makes them inferior to other whites or anyone else. Whether its attractive or not is a matter of opinion.

  11. Idiots. Self delusional fucking idiots. White people tan to look golden, not black. Stop fucking deluding yourselves its absolutely disgusting.

Im a black person, too, saying this. Considering the brain washing all of you assholes went through as children, you will probably call me a “self hater”. LMFAO. What?

Let’s be honest, the ones who throw that buzz phrase around like crazy are the ones that ” hate themselves ” the most. Whatever that means.I haven’t got a single clue. Only used it to seem clever but really to me it means nothing.

Can’t stand how strongly you all delude yourselves. Seriously. It gets irritating to a point of explosion which is this post.

    YOUR SKIN COLOR MEANS NOTHING

Stop feeling pride towards it just because you feel like you have to.

I don’t identity with “black”. I have no affinity towards it or any of the other features that come with the package. The skin looks cool and the hair feels good sometimes…but that’s all. It doesn’t fucking matter to me.

You all probably think ” YEAH BUT UR STILL BLACK U SELF HATER!!”0

YEAH. In the eyes of people that are of lower consciousness and still identify with the body. In other words, poor people. Sorry but not really.

Protip: truly wealthy people are people of soul identification.

You create your own reality. Cliche? Maybe.

Stop insecurely feeling proud of insignificant physical features…

  12. You can identify as anything you want to be.
Let’s both hope and pray that when it matters, others don’t identify you as black.

  13. Yes they all do. The white man has embedded it inside our minds that we are less than than them. Since the day we were brought here by force 400+ years ago.
